Putting the idea of STEM-VRSE together
Humans love to identify and define things. If you disagree, what was Adam's job? So here are some definitions. Science defines a systematic enterprise used by humans to develop and organize knowledge about the universe. Technology often describes the collection of techniques, skills, methods, and processes used by humans to produce goods and services. Engineering allows humans to integrate scientific knowledge and mathematical methods to design, analyze, or operate structures, machines, or systems. Finally, Mathematics encompasses the human endeavor to understand quantity, structure, space, and change.
Those definitions adequately explain many elements of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics; but in reading those definitions, many people fail to observe the common element, human. Below, we provide some photos of STEM-VRSE researchers conducting research on a reef community off the coast of New Zealand. Yes, evidence in the photos point to science, technology, engineering, and even mathematics. At STEM-VRSE, however, we never want to forget the human behind STEM.
Cheers from Down Under!
